Use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your work computer on-campus from another computer located off-campus
Employees are encouraged to seek help and advice from your assigned desktop technician: mytech.usu.edu
General Information
- If you have enabled Remote Desktop connections, you can remote to your computer using the hostname of that computer; the hostname will be something.mypc.usu.edu
- If you don't remember your hostname, simply login to https://netreg.usu.edu and view the hostname for the computer you have registered (must be on VPN to log into USU-guest)
- If you are off-campus, and trying to remote into your on-campus computer, you will need to connect to the USU VPN Server before trying to connect
- When troubleshooting remote desktop connections, verify that the computer being remotely accessed has a version of windows classified as Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise. Home editions of Windows operating system do not have the remote access capability.
