Email: @USU.edu Mail Account Expiration - When Will I Lose Access?

How long will your @USU.edu email account remain active?

Students

A student USU email address will be active and accessible from the first time the student registers for a class until three (3) years after the last completed class.  Email expiration notifications will be sent prior to account expiration.
(Exception: If a newly enrolled student withdraws, and is refunded tuition, before completing a full semester, email access is ended immediately and does not continue. No notification will be sent.)

Employees

Upon an employee's separation/termination from Utah State University, the email will be removed from the server 90 days from the job end date (termination date) set in Banner.

University personnel who are still associated with USU, but do not receive a paycheck from the University, may request to keep or obtain an email account by completing one of the following processes:

There are three (3) Methods to Avoid Losing Access to USU Email After Termination:

1)  The employee's department may submit a No-Pay Electronic Personnel Action Form (No-Pay EPAF) - "Opting Into IT Services", for the employee. The department is responsible for the monthly fee associated with the no-pay epaf.

or:
2)  A department may submit a standard Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) with a future hire date, thus preventing the removal of the employee's email account. Please contact the USU HR Office with questions or assistance.

or:
3) Upon retiring and/or leaving Utah State University, Faculty members may apply through the Provosts Office for Emeritus status. Once approved, the faculty member's @usu.edu account will remain active and available for the emeritus faculty member to use. For more information contact the USU Provosts Office, or apply for Emeritus status.
