We recommend you manage your own student account but understand there are cases where it is necessary for a parent, spouse or other third-party to access information or complete transactions on your behalf.
Assigning a delegate allows you to give another person access to your USU student account. We will not discuss your student account or records with your parent, spouse anyone other than delegates. A delegate is especially useful for, but not limited to, students who may be taking a leave of absence from the University for church or military service. If you plan to take a leave of absence, a delegate can assist you in making a smooth transition back to USU by acting on your behalf.
THE ADDING, CHANGING, OR REMOVING OF A SECURITYPHRASE AND/OR DELEGATES IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT
A Delegate may act on your behalf at USU, which means a delegate may:
- Have full access to your account and student information
- Change or update your information, including your password and adding additional Multifactor Authentication (MFA) method.
- Access your information in Banner (SSB), including your grades and finances
- Add or drop classes on your behalf in Banner
A few things you may want to know about delegates...
- You need to create a SecurityPhrase in order to create a delegate
- You should designate only those you can trust as your delegate and/or entrust these individuals with your SecurityPhrase
Reminder: Your delegates will have full access to your USU account!
- To learn how to update delegates, see Create/Update SecurityPhrase and Delegates
