Setting up Spirion Profiles

Spirion securely stores all your personal information used within Spirion in a single file known as your Profile, and it is encrypted and password protected.

The Spirion Profile saves your settings and will securely save any information entered into lists, such as the Ignore list.  A Profile is also important in saving preferences. For example, a Password Profile is used for saving results, securing files, as well as other activities.

The Profile password is not stored; therefore, if forgotten, the old profile must be deleted and new profile will need to be created.

Create a password:

When opening up Spirion for the first time you will be prompted with a window that will ask you to create and confirm a password. This will create your profile. The profile password is not stored anywhere, therefore, when lost or forgotten, all the information in the profile will be lost. When the profile password is created, that password is used to encrypt the profile.

After entering a password you will receive confirmation that the password has been set.

Once you click 'OK', the 'Search Wizard' window will appear with 3 options for completing your first scan.

  1. Start Search Now: This option will perform a scan using default settings.
  2. Continue Search Wizard: Choosing this option will cause the program to make scan decisions that are not always in line with your business needs for sensitive data.
  3. Open Advanced Interface: This is the recommended option and will allow you to customize your scan. Review the article 'Spirion Scanning Configuration' for USU's recommended search parameters.

What if I forget my Profile Password?

There is no way to recover your Spirion password. Therefore, there is no way to recover configurations, secured files, or other information that was saved to your profile due to a lost password. It is possible to delete your account and create a new one, but you are essentially starting over again.  Once you create an Spirion account, it is imperative that you record the password somewhere secure so that you may refer to it.

How do I manually delete an Spirion profile?

A profile can be deleted by logging into Spirion as a guest. The following data will be lost when deleting a profile:

To delete the profile skip the password entry page. Then open the 'Profile' page within 'Settings/Preferences', and click the 'Delete Profile' button.
