The newest version of Mitel Connect is available at https://uc.usu.edu and supports all versions of Windows and macOS

Forward ShoreTel Phone number

Forwarding Calls: This is done through changing the Availability State (call-handling mode) on your phone. All calls are still routed through your ShoreTel/Mitel phone. This allows calls to ring at the ShoreTel Handset, then route to your home, cell, or other USU number, if the call isn't answered from the desk phone. Directions for this method can be found in the Knowledge Base Forward ShoreTel Phone number.

External Assignment: Necessary for those using Hunt Groups, or calling trees (Auto-Attendant Menus), or ACD Contact Center Agents. It also offers some additional features, such as showing the desk phone caller ID when calls are made through Communicator, rather than the caller ID of the mobile number. This method sets the cell/home number to the primary extension for incoming calls. In this setup, the Mitel/ShoreTel desk phone will not be able to call off-campus, as the extension has been assigned externally (set to Anonymous) to the user's home/cell number.  Calls will no longer ring at the office phone and voicemail options depend on target phone's capability.

Ring Office and Mobile Simultaneously: Allows calls to be answered on mobile, but voice messages will be delivered to your USU extension.

Setting an External Assignment using Mitel Connect (Windows and macOS)

You must have the Mitel Connect application installed to proceed with the instructions below. If you are not physically on campus, and want to make changes to your phone, the VPN (virtual private network) is required to connect to the campus network. Instructions for installing and using the USU VPN.

1. Open the Mitel Connect application and sign in with your A# and USU Strong password. You will need to show the advanced settings and enter in the server name which is: uc.usu.edu

2. Once signed in, and the first time you set up External Assignment, you will need to click on the three vertical dots icon (1) then select "Preferences" (2).

3. Select "Primary Assignment" (1). Select the External Assignment radio button (2) and enter a label for your home or mobile number and the 10-digit phone number you would like your phone to forward to (3). You may want to increase the number of rings. We strongly recommend choosing "Automatically Connect"

Clicking "add" (4) will set your phone to ring directly to your desired external number.

**IF YOU HAVE A DESK PHONE, THE PHONE'S DISPLAY WILL SHOW "ANONYMOUS". YOU MUST CHANGE TO PRIMARY PHONE TO RESTORE DESK PHONE FUNCTIONALITY.**

4. To return your phone back to it's original state of ringing to your desk phone, select the three vertical dots menu and select "Desk Phone". You will not need to repeat the first section in this article unless you want to add or change an external number.

Ring Office and Mobile Simultaneously

Allows calls to be answered on a mobile phone, but voice messages will be delivered to Mitel extension. Calls ring to both Desk phone and mobile device.
