Azure AD Cloud Authentication Replacing ADFS (with Microsoft Authentication)

1336 views

Login/Authentication service is updating from ADFS and SSO to Microsoft Azure AD

Phase -1-

On July 13, 2022 at 3:30pm Microsoft applications, such as Outlook.usu.edu/owa.usu.edu, and applications that interface with Office were converted to the new authentication system. Email addresses such as anumber@aggies.usu.edu or USU email address (first.last@usu.edu) will be used exclusively for login and the screen will look a bit different (see below). Anumber without @aggies.usu.edu will no longer work as the username. See screenshots below.

Support For Email Access Issues

  • If you see errors or messages are not syncing, you may need to remove the usu email account from the email application, then add the email account again. Feel welcome to contact your support professional (mytech.usu.edu) or the IT Service Desk for additional assistance.

Phase -2-

Over the next few weeks, the following applications will be converted to use Azure AD for Single Sign-On: Adobe, Banner, Box, Canvas, Eduroam, and Zoom.

The ils.usu.edu and icims.usu.edu systems have already been converted.

Phase -3-

Over the next few months, we will be moving the SSO integrations for other products such as Qualtrics, Matlab, and ArcGIS, for example, to use Azure AD. If you have systems that use SSO integrations, please contact Ken Andersen to determine if the 3rd Party application can be converted to Azure AD and schedule a time to convert your applications.

NOTE: If you have issues logging in after services move to the new AzureAD login, you may need to log out and clear browser cache/cookies.

Below are images of the new Azure login procedure. Please note the new background - Old Main at Night

Initial Login Prompt - enter A#@aggies.usu.edu or any email alias (a#@usu.edu, first.last@usu.edu)

Password Prompt - Enter USU Strong Password

You will see an authentication prompt
